“Mallorca Goes Green” is a movement wanting to play an active, solution-oriented role in making a transition to a future of zero carbon emissions on this island. The future should be based on a clean energy economy.
We will be working towards becoming a strong grass-roots movement. Together we can join in actions showing our sincere concern of the consequences of climate-change.
Your involvement is crucial for strengthening our cause, creating awareness and putting pressure on our local leaders to plan for a future that does not harm the environment.
We would like you to join us, sign the manifest/petition, so that we can show decision makers that there is support for our cause and why it is necessary to act now.
We will work together with other ecological groups to seek joint efforts in bringing our message forward. Seeking common grounds we could create a “Kyoto protocol” for Mallorca.
Awareness is a key word when it comes to bringing about change. More knowledge and awareness of how each one of us can make choices that make a difference, is also an important part of our work.
These are the following plans of action:
A. Collaborating and building bridges with other local ecological movements.
B. Making our manifesto/ petition officially recognized, advertising in local newspapers, and reaching out to the residents of Mallorca, activating them to take part in our campaigning. We would like you to join us, signing our petition is a very important instrument for bring consciousness to the decision-makers. Once the petition has gathered signatures we will present it to the Balearic Government and others concerned.
C. Researching how other towns, islands, or countries etc. have made the transition to eco-friendly environments. We will make contact with internationally renowned ecological activists who have already come up with the solutions and see how they could be applied here on Mallorca.
D. Creating a live website allowing you to come up with ideas and be a part of a think-tank. We will reproduce articles, write our own thoughts and ideas and create an ample website to connect and network with other organisations, local and international.
E. Education, reaching out to children and their parents/grand-parents, making them aware of the serious situation of climate-change and what can be done.
Our vision is clear, your engagement is important, the power of ideas and visions should not be underestimated.

Starting and running a green movement always needs funding. There are some key areas that are depending on donations.
1. Advertising the manifesto so that people know where they can sign it on the web. Advertising locally when there is an event.
2. Designing and printing posters, leaflets and other information that can be handed out.
3. Organizing a march from village to village, planting trees, handing out material, making posters, t-shirts, phone-calls.
4. Transportation, writing help, translating the website to different languages, designing and up-dating the website.

The most important thing right now is for us to gather as many signatures as possible for this petition. Your signature will be very helpful in showing the balearic government and other decision-makers your sense of urgency for change.
The goal is for mallorca to produce clean electricity by 2018. We want an active plan for how we can reduce carbon-emissions.
Ultimately it will require a major shift in governmental and economical choices.
